Driver Leaps From Bay Farm Island Bridge
The CARE Team and the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department's air support team rushed to the scene to help.
ALAMEDA, CA — One person died after leaping from the Bay Farm Island Bridge Wednesday afternoon, according to the Alameda Police Department.
Police responded to the bridge around 1:40 p.m. after the Communications Center received several calls rreporting that a driver was blocking the Bay Farm Island Bridge.
Arriving officers found the driver standing on the ledge of the bridge. They immediately called for help and both the CARE Team and the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department’s air support team were dispatched.

Police say that despite the rapid response by the CARE Team, the person lept from the bridge.
Officers used life rings and entered the water to bring the person to shore. Once out of the water, APD officers and Alameda Fire Department personnel began provided aid.

The person was transported to a local hospital but they did not survive.
