Fire Damages Cabin of Tugboat Docked Next to USS Hornet
Welding going on in the pilot's cabin of the tug was the apparent cause of the fire, officials said.

Fire damaged the cabin of a tugboat docked next to the USS Hornet at Alameda Point Sunday evening, the Alameda Fire Department reported.
Fire officials said two people on board the tug extinguished the blaze as firefighters arrived.
The fire was caused by the owners welding in the pilot's cabin of the boat, they said. Damage to the tug was estimated at $10,000.
The tugboat was docked at Pier 3, next to the floating museum USS Hornet. The fire was reported at 6:09 p.m.
Firefighters checked for any hidden fire, ensuring that it was completely extinguished, officials said. Foam was applied in the burnt cabin to cool the area and ensure that the fire would not reignite, they said.
No injuries were reported.
