Highway 24 Reopens After Shooting: Reports
Highway 24 was closed for about 2 hours near Oakland after a car was shot at. One victim transported himself to the hospital.
OAKLAND, CA — Lanes on Highway 24 have reopened after a shooting, according to reports. The freeway was closed just west of Broadway for about two hours as authorities investigated, according to the reports and the California Highway Patrol.
The shooting took place on the eastbound section of Highway 24 between Claremont Avenue, Telegraph Avenue, and Broadway at around noon Tuesday, according to ABC7 and KTVU. Officers were told that a white sedan was hit by gunfire and one person was struck as well, according to NBC Bay Area. A man in his 20s was shot at least once and took himself to a hospital to be treated for leg injuries, according to the Bay Area News Group. He was in stable condition, CHP told the Bay Area News Group and NBC Bay Area.
Aerial footage shows a stopped white sedan on the side of the road, with its airbags deployed, according to KTVU.
