Homeless Encampment Fire Extinguished In Alameda

This is not the first fire at this location.

ALAMEDA, CA — The Alameda Fire Department put out a blaze in a homeless encampment in Alameda over the weekend.

The fire broke out Sunday evening just after 5 p.m. in the 3000 block of Main Street. In addition to encampment debris, the fire spread to some nearby vegetation.

No injuries were reported.

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court gave cities the right to crack down on homeless encampments. Several Bay Area cities moved swiftly to remove them and continue to crack down.
