OAKLAND, CA — A 62-year-old man was found guilty this week of assault with a deadly weapon with a hate crime enhancement for a road rage attack on a mother in Oakland last year.
Tracy Robert Blackwell was convicted in a jury trial of yelling racial slurs and throwing objects at the family's vehicle as they entered the Interstate Highway 880 onramp at Hegenberger Road in May 2023.
Blackwell crossed multiple lanes and nearly struck the victim's vehicle as he pursued them after being honked at.

"I also want to thank Deputy DA Laura Anderson for effectively prosecuting this case involving a Black family. Not only was this incident dangerous, it was traumatizing because of the racial abuse that was part of the crime," Price said.
Blackwell faces up to seven years in prison.
