• Planning Board Approves West Midway Design, Tilden-Clement Tree Plan (alamedapost.com) — Alameda’s Planning Board has cleared the way for 284 new homes at Alameda Point’s West Midway Phase A and endorsed a major tree removal and replanting plan for the Tilden Way–Clement Avenue gateway project. Together with future phases and RESHAP, the housing plan advances the city’s state-mandated housing goals, while the roundabout and trail work will reshape traffic, bike routes, and greenery at the island’s northeastern entrance.
   

• Coast Guard Cutter James conducts counter-drug patrol in Eastern Pacific Ocean (uscg.mil) — A Coast Guard command headquartered in Alameda oversees drug interdictions like the Cutter James’s recent 92‑day Eastern Pacific patrol, which seized tens of thousands of pounds of cocaine and marijuana. While the crew is based in South Carolina, Alameda’s Southwest District leadership directs these high‑seas operations that aim to keep narcotics from reaching U.S. shores.
