Police Find Fake Fed Badges, IDs While Arresting Stolen Car Suspect In Alameda
The suspect may have been posing as a federal agent, police said.

ALAMEDA, CA — Police found several fake government identifications and federal agent badges while arresting a person suspected of driving a stolen car Tuesday morning in Alameda, police said.
Police say an automated license plate reader picked up the license plate of a stolen car traveling near the Marina Village Shopping Center at around 11:30 a.m.
Officers caught up to the driver and took them into custody on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle, the Alameda Police Department said.

While searching the car, officers found a firearm, counterfeit identification and drug paraphernalia, police said. A photo of the seized items posted by the Alameda police department also shows fake federal agent badges, several phones and handcuffs.
The items suggest that the driver may have been posing as a federal agent, police said.

"Impersonating a government or law enforcement official is not only a serious offense, but it also poses a significant risk to the individual and the public," the Alameda Police Department said in a statement Wednesday. "This case remains active as officers continue to investigate the full scope of the suspect’s actions."
