Season Preview: Alameda Women's Basketball 2024-25
Hornets had 20-8 record last season, reaching the NCS Division I semifinals.
The Alameda High women's basketball season officially opens on Friday November 29 at 5pm, with the team traveling to Vintage High School in Napa. Prior to the official opener, Alameda hosts Carondelet on Tuesday November 26 at 7pm, for the North Coast Section (NCS) Scholarship Foundation exhibition game at the Alameda High gym. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, with half the proceeds going to the NCS Scholarship fund.
This will be Coach Shawn Hipol's fourth year leading the Hornets, who are looking to build on a solid 20-8 season last year. Alameda came in third place in the West Alameda County Conference (WACC) Foothill division at 4-4 behind Bishop O'Dowd and Piedmont. The Hornets reached the semifinals of the NCS Division I playoffs, falling to California High, after an exciting quarterfinal home win over Liberty of Brentwood.
This season the Hornets have been invited to the prestigious POA Holiday Classic taking place in Portland, Oregon during the post-Christmas week. The tournament features top teams from Oregon, Washington and California. WACC league play begins January 14 with Alameda hosting the Castro Valley Trojans. The regular season concludes on February 14 against San Leandro at home. Alameda and Encinal will continue their cross-town rivalry, with games at Encinal on January 11 and at the Alameda gym on February 8. The complete schedule can be found on maxpreps.com. Tickets for Alameda home games, as well as certain away games, can be found for purchase at gofan.co. For home games, tickets for adults and students are $9 and $6, respectively.
