Fugitive Bay Area Murder Suspect Captured In Arizona
An Oakland man wanted in the April killing of his nephew was arrested on Thanksgiving after eight months on the run, according to reports.

OAKLAND, CA — Police arrested Marvin Prudhomme, 30, Thursday in Phoenix on a murder warrant for suspicion of killing of his nephew, 19-year-old Zion Greenwood. Police said he initially resisted arrest and refused to provide his real name before being arrested, KTVU reported.
According to county records, authorities charged Prodhomme with six felony counts for resisting arrest and two misdemeanors for giving a fake name. He was also charged as a "fugitive from justice." His bail was set at $302,500.
The shooting happened just after midnight on April 4 at an apartment near 14th and Filbert streets that belonged to Greenwood’s father. Prudhomme had been staying at the home. Police saidPrudhomme first shot Greenwood’s father, wounding him, before fatally shooting the 19-year-old and fleeing the scene.

Later that day, a 9mm handgun was found in a yard near 14th and West streets, according to reports. According to court documents, witnesses told police that Prudhomme later appeared and said he was in trouble because he had shot someone with the weapon, according to reports.
"My son, Zion Keion-Imani Greenwood, was killed at the age of 19 and taken from us in a moment of senseless violence at the hands of his uncle," his mother, Kentara Gaines, said at the time. "No mother should ever have to say that. No mother should have to plan a service for her child."

She described him as proud of his culture and rooted in community. "He spoke more than one language and had dreams of becoming a business owner, and always looking for a way to move forward," she said. "In his final months, he was evolving spiritually, mentally and emotionally. He was stepping into himself as a man, and I could see his growth blooming right in front of me."
