Coroner's Office Officially Identifies Teens who Died in Irvine Crash, Including Aliso Viejo Girl

The cause of death has been determined for three of the five victims.

From the Orange County Sheriff’s Department:

On Saturday, Oct. 4, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Coroner Division was contacted regarding a multiple fatality traffic collision on the southbound Interstate 5 freeway in the city of Irvine. The coroner investigator responded to the collision scene and conducted an investigation involving the death of three male and two female juveniles.

The five victims are identified as the following:

Jennifer BAHENA, 14, Laguna Hills; Jennifer CAMPOS, 15, Aliso Viejo; Matthew Ivan MELO, 15, Mission Viejo; Brandon Alejandro MORENO, 14, Mission Viejo; and Alejandro SOTELO, 14, San Juan Capistrano.

Autopsies have been completed and the cause of death for BAHENA, CAMPOS and MELO has been determined to be multiple blunt force trauma injuries as a result of the collision. Cause of death for MORENO and SOTELO is pending.
