MOULTON MUSEUM HOSTED FIRST ANNUAL BUNKHOUSE BBQ AND DONATED $100,000 TO ALISO VIEJO RANCH
Inaugural Event Celebrated History and Brought Together the Community
Aliso Viejo, CA (August 30, 2021)
Moulton Museum, an Orange County-based museum that works to keep the history of the region and its ranching era alive by archiving, restoring, and preserving historical artifacts, hosted around 300 guests at its First Annual Bunkhouse BBQ held at Aliso Viejo Ranch on August 25, 2021. Jared Mathis, President of Moulton Museum and CEO of Moulton Company, gave an update on the 2022 opening of the museum in Laguna Hills and presented the Aliso Viejo Ranch Foundation a check for $100,000. This inaugural event was held in partnership with the California Rangeland Trust, a non-profit organization that protects what matters by working with California ranching families to preserve our state’s rangeland, air and water quality, wildlife habitat, and local food supplies.

“We want to help preserve history in this area,” Mathis said. “We believe that we can learn from our history and we don’t want it to go away.” With an art exhibition showcasing the 2021 graduates from the Laguna College of Art + Design, roping lessons and self-guided tours of the working farm, garden, and structures on Aliso Viejo Ranch, the Bunkhouse BBQ celebrated history and brought together the community.
Special guests who were close to the Moulton family’s ranching heritage also attended and experienced a preview of the Moulton Museum, which has artifacts displayed in the barn and event space.
The Bunkhouse BBQ celebration harkens back to that historic ranching heritage in Orange County, where the bunkhouse became the place where everyone came together in the 19th century: American, Basque, Native American, Mexican, cowboy, shepherd, farmer, and fence puller, gathered to celebrate community.
