• NID receives $615,000 CAL FIRE grant to protect critical water infrastructure from wildfire (yubanet.com) — Alta Sierra’s drinking and irrigation water supply is getting added wildfire protection thanks to a $615,000 CAL FIRE grant for the South Yuba Canal, the only conduit serving your community and others in western Nevada County. Nevada Irrigation District will clear fuels and hazard trees along 2.5 miles of elevated wooden flume, aiming to prevent a catastrophic fire that could disrupt water delivery and hydroelectric power.
