Three Lost Hikers Rescued in Eaton Canyon Saturday Night

Three teen hikers were lost in the dark near the Eaton Canyon water fall Saturday night and were led back by the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team.

Three teen hikers were found by rescuers Saturday night after a brother of one of the group member called the police and told them the hikers had never returned from their afternoon trip.

The hikers were found around 8:15 p.m. by rescuers after receiving the call at 7 p.m. according to a press release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The missing hikers included a 19-year old man from Cypress, 19-year old woman from Laguna Niguel, and a 19-year old man from Los Angeles, according to the release.

The hikers were "dressed in light clothing, had no jackets, food, flashlights, or hiking equipment or other provisions as they expected to be out for only the day," according to the release.

They became disoriented as darkness fell and wandered off the trail, according to the release.

The night was expected to be in the 40s, but fortunately the search and rescue team found the teens near the first waterfall and walked them out.  They were all uninjured and a helicopter evacuation was not necessary.
