2 Teens Shot, One Fatally, After Allegedly Assaulting An Off-Duty Customs Agent: Police

Breaking: The officer says he was assaulted and fired on the juvenile suspects in self defense.

ARCADIA, CA — Two juvenile males were shot, one fatally, by an off-duty Customs and Border Protection Officer Friday night in Arcadia, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The officer was walking on 1st Street at around 8:15 p.m. when, according to the report, he was attacked from behind by three male subjects.

One of them allegedly hit the officer in the head several times while another pointed a gun at him and demanded his property. The officer claims that he thought they were going to shoot him so, according to the report, he got his gun out and fired.

The 15-year-old with the gun was struck and killed. A 14-year-old was struck but not killed. The third juvenile, another 14 year-old, was not hit and ran away when the shooting started. He was later located at a residence not far from the scene. The 15-year-old was pronounced dead at 5:34 a.m. Saturday. The 14-year-old struck by gunfire remains hospitalized.
