Fire Blotter: Man Ejected From Vehicle, Run Over by Truck
A 28-year-old died after he was ejected from his vehicle during a collision on the 210 Freeway and then run over by truck.

The responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of June 3-9. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this period:

Medical Assist: Shortness of Breath
At 10:41 a.m. on June 3, Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 00 block of West Foothill Boulevard. Fire personnel treated an elderly woman suffering from shortness of breath. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene, including: intravenous access, oxygen therapy and 12-lead cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to for further evaluation and treatment.

Recreational Vehicle Fire
At 5:07 a.m. on June 5, Engine 105 responded to a vehicle fire in the area of South Santa Anita Avenue and East Duarte Road. Fire personnel found a recreational trailer in a rear parking area fully involved with fire. Fire crews extinguished and contained the fire to the vehicle of origin. Additional personnel and equipment responded to the location to assist with water supply. The cause of the fire was deemed accidental.

Vehicle Fire
At 7:14 a.m. on June 5, Engine 106 responded to a vehicle fire in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Fire crews encountered a passenger vehicle with heavy fire in the engine compartment. Forcible entry was used to gain access to the engine compartment and the fire was extinguished and overhauled. The fire resulted from an overheated battery that ignited combustibles.
USFS Construction Site Fire
On June 6 at 12:40 a.m., Arcadia Fire Department responded to a call regarding a strong odor of smoke in the 600 block of Cornell Drive. Engine 107 was dispatched to the reported location for investigation. Fire personnel determined the in the 700 block of North Santa Anita Avenue. A full structure response was initiated. Fire personnel discovered 26 adjacent modular structures fully involved with fire. The structures were primarily used as office spaces but, according to USFS representatives, were vacant at the time of the incident and in the process of being removed from the property. Suppression personnel were unable to make entry as they determined the structures were dangerously unstable due to heavy fire activity. The fire was contained to the structure of origin with no damage to the surrounding structures or neighboring properties.
Medical Assist: Chest Pains and Shortness of Breath
At 1:22 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Fire personnel evaluated a woman suffering from chest pain with shortness of breath. The patient received advanced life support at the scene, including: oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, intravenous access and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Vehicle Fire in Carport
At 8:50 a.m. on June 7, Engine 107, along with units from Monrovia and Pasadena, assisted Sierra Madre Fire Department with a vehicle fire in a carport threatening structures. Sierra Madre fire crews attacked a fully involved vehicle fire that had engulfed two additional vehicles and the carport under which they were parked. Although the fire threatened an adjacent apartment building, firefighters were able to protect the surrounding structures. Outside agencies assisted Sierra Madre with exposure protection and fire extinguishment.
Structure Fire Assist
At 9:17 a.m. on June 8, Engine 106 and Air Light Unit 106 assisted units from the South Pasadena Fire Department with a commercial structure fire in the 500 block of Mission Street in the City of South Pasadena. Upon arrival, fire personnel provided fire extinguishment, salvage and overhaul, and rehabilitation operations.
Man Ejected From Vehicle, Ran Over By Truck
At 1:26 a.m. on June 9, Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 105 and Monrovia Engine 102 responded to a reported traffic collision on the westbound 210 Freeway east of Santa Anita Avenue. Fire Crews found a single vehicle accident with one occupant. , which collided with the center guardrail. He was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Soon after, a passing truck then ran over him. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
