Fire Blotter: Man Injured by Falling Object

The Arcadia Fire Department also dealt with several other medical assists.

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of March 18-24. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this period.

Sunday, March 18

    •    At 3:09 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. Fire Crews evaluated an elderly female experiencing an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics provided advanced life support on scene; including an intravenous access, fluid challenge, blood glucose monitoring, oxygen therapy and 12-lead cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Monday, March 19

    •    At 8:05 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 1300 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Fire personnel evaluated a male patient who was suffering from chest pain. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.


Tuesday, March 20

    •    At 11:32 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a trauma patient in the 1300 block of South Baldwin Avenue.  Fire crews evaluated a male patient who sustained a head injury from a falling object. The patient was placed in full cerebral spinal precautions and transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Wednesday, March 21

    •    At 1:56 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to medical assist in the 00 block of West Palm Drive.  Fire crews evaluated a female patient who was suffering from severe abdominal pain.  Paramedics provided advanced life support on scene; including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, intravenous access, and medication for nausea and vomiting.  Patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Thursday, March 22

    •    At 1:54 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. Fire crews evaluated a male patient who experienced two syncopal episodes, sustaining minor trauma. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene; including blood glucose, intravenous access and 12-lead cardiac monitoring. The patient was placed in full cerebral spinal precautions and transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Friday, March 23

    •    At 7:32 p.m., Engine 105, Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a traffic collision with injuries at the intersection of South Santa Anita Avenue and East Live Oak Avenue. Fire personnel evaluated one patient suffering from minor to moderate injuries. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including full spinal immobilization, oxygen therapy, and cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Saturday, March 24

    •    At 8:26 p.m., Engine 106 responded on a carbon monoxide alarm in the 300 block of Oxford Drive. Fire crews arrived on scene and were informed by the occupant that her carbon monoxide alarm had activated for a brief time.  Engine personnel utilized a four-gas monitor to check for carbon monoxide levels. After a thorough investigation, no readings of carbon monoxide were found. Occupant was instructed to replace the batteries in the detector and contact the Fire Department for any additional alarms.
