Fire Blotter: Person Trapped Inside Locked Building

The Arcadia Fire Department also dealt with an electric pole fire and several medical assists.

The responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of April 15-21. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this period:

At 5:08 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 1600 block of Perkins Drive. Fire personnel evaluated a male patient who was suffering from shortness of breath. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, drug therapy, cardiac monitoring, and intravenous access. The patient was transported to for further evaluation and treatment.

At 2:36 a.m., Engine 106 responded to a reported electrical pole fire in the 400 block of Oxford Drive. Fire crews investigated a smoldering electrical pole and found live high voltage electrical wires down in the rear yard at the location. Fire personnel secured the area, contacted Southern California Edison and awaited their arrival.

Tuesday, April 17

At 3:56 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a traffic collision with reported injuries on the eastbound 210 Freeway west of Santa Anita Avenue. Fire personnel evaluated a single patient complaining of minor to moderate injuries. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including full spinal immobilization, oxygen therapy, and cardiac monitoring. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
 

Wednesday, April 18

At 12:31 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist the 100 block of East Duarte Road. Fire crews arrived evaluated a male patient who appeared to have an altered mental status. Paramedics assessed the patient using advanced life support measures, which included 12-lead cardiac monitoring, a blood glucose reading, intravenous access, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to a local hospital for further treatment and evaluation.

Thursday, April 19

At 1:36 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 100 block of North First Avenue. Fire crews evaluated a female patient who was feeling weak and dizzy after exercising. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene; including intravenous access, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, blood glucose reading and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Friday, April 20

At 5:28 p.m., Truck 105 responded to a person trapped inside a structure after business hours in the 100 block of East Huntington Drive. Fire crews found one worker locked inside a business after closing down for the day. Fire personnel made access into the building using a key from the Knox Box. The individual was released from the structure, evaluated by Paramedics and released to Arcadia Police.

Saturday, April 21

At 1:44 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 00 block of South Old Ranch Road. Fire crews evaluated an elderly female who was suffering from severe chest pain. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene; including intravenous access, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, cardiac medications and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
