Man Accused of Killing Girlfriend Set to Stand Trial Next Week

Jury selection in the case of Isaac Campbell is expected to begin Oct. 17.

The trial of a San Gabriel Valley man accused of killing his girlfriend, stuffing her body in a trashcan and hiding it in the garage of a friend's home, is expected to commence Oct. 17.

Prosecution and defense lawyers in the case of Isaac Campbell appeared before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Candace J. Beason on Monday to formally declare their readiness for trial.

is charged with the August 2007 murder of 31-year-old Liya "Jessie" Lu, whose body was discovered at a house on the 1700 block of South Baldwin Avenue a month or so after her death.

Shortly after the body's discovery, authorities arrested Campbell in Minnesota and extradited him back to California. The couple met as nursing students at Pasadena City College.
