New Head Football Coach Named

Chris Long will take the reins from Jon Dimalante.

Athletic Director Ryan Press has named Chris Long to replace Jon Dimalante as the Apaches' head football coach, according to the Pasadena Star-News.

The newspaper reported Long has had a lengthy, off-and-on history with the Apaches that began in 1997; most recently, he served as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator during .

According to the Star-News, Long has coached at several area high schools, including separate 3-season stints as head coach at Western Christian and Hoover high schools.

He also coached at L.A. Southwest College, which he attended before receiving a full ride to Eastern Michigan, the Star-News reported. He holds a degree in sociology.

Citing personal pursuits and family, The announcement concluded 17 proud years at the Apaches' helm.

Dimalante lead the Apaches to 10 Pacific League Championships and held a record of 113-76-1. He will remain at Arcadia High School as a teacher.
