Police Blotter: AHS Student Allegedly Brandishes Knife at Fellow Student on Campus

For the period of Sunday, Feb. 24-March 2, the Arcadia Police Department responded to 1,087 calls for service, 129 of which required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

DUI Arrest

At about 12:34 a.m. on Feb. 24, officers working a DUI checkpoint on Santa Anita Avenue at Saint Joseph Street came into contact with a reportedly intoxicated driver. An investigation revealed the 24-year-old woman allegedly had a blood alcohol content level greater than 0.08 percent. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Felony Warrant Arrest

At approximately 11:12 p.m. on Feb. 24, an officer made consensual contact with a man in the area of Live Oak Avenue and Mayflower Avenue. A records check revealed the subject had an outstanding felony warrant. The 37-year-old man was arrested, booked, and transported to the Los Angeles County Jail.

Police Pursuit

Around 3 a.m. on Feb. 25, an officer attempted a traffic stop on a white Cadillac with no license plates on Clark Street, approaching Peck Road. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and a short pursuit ensued; however, the vehicle escaped. An area check was conducted, but the vehicle was not located.

Arcadia High Student Allegedly Threatens Fellow Student With Knife

Shortly after 1:02 p.m., on Feb. 25, an officer responded to Arcadia High School regarding a student detained for brandishing a knife. The teen, enraged with anger, had reportedly use a knife to threate a female student. He allegedly flinched toward her numerous times, but did not cause physical harm. Officers transported the 16-year-old to the Arcadia City Jail for booking and he was later released to his father.

Residential Burglary

At 11:46 a.m. on Feb. 26, an officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Cambridge Drive in reference to a residential burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) forced entry through a rear laundry room, ransacked the residence, and fled with cash and jewelry. No witnesses were located. 

Vehicle Theft at Albertsons

At 4:12 p.m. on Feb. 26, officers responded to Albertsons, 298 East Live Oak Avenue regarding a stolen vehicle. Video surveillance showed a man parking his vehicle in the Albertsons lot and fleeing in the victim's vehicle. A DMV check on the abandoned suspect vehicle revealed it also was reported stolen by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Temple City Station. Further investigation is being conducted by the Detective Bureau.

Man Leads Officers on Pursuit, Leaves Driver's License Behind

Around 1:32 a.m. on Feb. 27, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehiclein the area of Longden and Myrtle avenues for tinted windows. When asked to step out of the vehicle, the driver allegedly put his vehicle in drive and sped away eastbound on Longden Avenue. A pursuit ensued, but was eventually terminated due to dangerous driving conditions.

A short time later, officers found the suspect's vehicle, unoccupied in the 000 block of El Dorado Street. The suspect was identified by his driver's license, which the officer had in his possession from the initial traffic stop. Further investigation is being conducted by the Detective Bureau.

Theft at Sephora

At about 8 p.m. on Feb. 27, officers were dispatched to Sephora at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. A woman allegedly concealed merchandise inside her purse and exited the store without paying. Her sister reportedly had numerous prescription medications without proper prescriptions. officers arrested both women and transported them to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Residential Burglary

At approximately 1:14 p.m. on Feb. 28, an officer responded to the 400 block of Diamond Street regarding a burglary investigation. The victim discovered unknown suspect(s) forced entry through a rear door. The reported loss included jewelry, watches, and cash totaling more than $25,000. The only evidence left behind was a muddy shoeprint.

Credit Card Fraud

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Feb. 28, an officer was dispatched to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a fraud investigation. The victim explained she received a past-due balance notice for a credit card she never opened. She had no idea how her personal information was compromised.

Highland Oaks Student Bitten by Dog on Campus

At about 6:35 p.m. on March 1, an officer responded to the area of Oakwood Avenue and Virginia Road in regards to a report of an animal bite. While playing at Highland Oaks Elementary School, 10 Virginia Road, a man and his son were bit in the leg by an unleashed canine. The Arcadia Fire Department responded to the scene and provided treatment to both victims. The dog owner advised his dog had never bitten anyone prior to this incident. The case is being reviewed by the Pasadena Humane Society.

Man Allegedly Stabs Another in Heat of Argument

At almost 9:16 p.m. on March 1, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West Huntington Drive regarding an assault with a deadly weapon that had just occurred. An investigation revealed an argument between two men led to one stabbing the other in his stomach. The suspect fled the scene and can be identified if seen again. Further investigation is being conducted by the Detective Bureau.

Wallet Stolen at Mall

At 6:09 p.m. on March 2, an officer responded to the Santa Anita Mall regarding a theft report. The victim took her children to play at the Children's Place and later discovered her wallet missing. She left her purse hanging on her stroller, but did not recall leaving it unattended. No one saw or heard anything suspicious. 

Driving Without a License

At almost midnight, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for driving without headlights, on Camino Real Avenue at Cambury Road. The officer discovered the driver was never issued a license. The 23-year-old  was arrested, transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking, and his vehicle was impounded.
