Court Hearing Postponed for Driver in Crosswalk Death

Bowen Du is now scheduled to appear in court on July 27.

Bowen Du, a 19-year-old Arcadia resident who was the driver of the 1997 Lexus that fatally stuck 16-year-old Alice Zhang on a crosswalk in April, must wait until July 27 to find out the date and setting of his preliminary hearing, according to officials at the Pasadena Courthouse.

Du  to a charge of vehicular manslaughter on Tuesday, June 28, and is appeared in court Tuesday for the setting of his preliminary hearing. 

Arcadia Police have pointed to Du's dirty windshield as  He faces possibly six years in state prison if convicted.

The preliminary hearing is when a judge weighs the value of the prosecution's case against a defendant using presented evidence and arguments from both attorneys.
