Little Change to Southland Gasoline Prices

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose one-tenth of a cent Friday to $4.178, its highest amount since June 7.

The average price is 1.2 cents more than one week ago, 29 cents higher than one month ago and 21.6 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has not changed by more than two-tenths of a cent for five consecutive days.

The Orange County average price also rose by one-tenth of a cent today, the fifth consecutive day it has not changed by more than two-tenths of a cent.

The Orange County average price of $4.157 is at its highest amount since June 5 and 1.4 cents more than a week ago, 28.1 cents higher than one month ago and 21.7 cents greater than one year ago.

"Local gas prices have risen by nearly 50 cents since July, when Southland motorists were paying about $3.70 a gallon on average,'' said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California. ``So far, the year-to-date average price for California gas is $4.04, 23 cents above the 2011 annual average price of $3.81.''
