Nearly 700 DUI Arrests During July 4th Holiday
Nearly 700 people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs this holiday weekend in Los Angeles County.

Nearly 700 people were arrested for driving underΒ the influence of alcohol or drugs this holiday weekend in Los Angeles County,Β according to preliminary figures released today.
Officials from the Avoid the 100 Los Angeles County DUI CampaignΒ reported that between 12:01 a.m. Thursday and midnight Sunday, 685 people wereΒ arrested on suspicion of DUI offenses. The figures are provisional, and couldΒ change.
Avoid programs are named for the numbers of law enforcement agencies inΒ each county. Law enforcement officers will conduct other Avoid campaigns thisΒ summer, ending with the Labor Day weekend.
Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the CaliforniaΒ Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic SafetyΒ Administration.
