We don't think about them much, but the humble grocery store is often one of the most important businesses in a community. Everyone has got to eat, after all.

The variety of grocery stores can sometimes make it tough to choose just one, however. There are grocery stores that specialize in artisan or gourmet foods, or stores that have delis and sandwich shops built right in. There are stores that only sell food from another country, or stores that only sell products grown or raised locally.

And of course there are your run-of-the-mill, chain grocery stores that, though maybe lacking in character, are so convenient you'll never shop anywhere else. Having a favorite grocery that you really know like the back of your hand can make all the difference.
