15,000 Gallons Of Diesel Fuel Stolen From Cabazon Gas Station

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department linked the suspect to diesel fuel thefts in Calimesa, Moreno Valley and other Cabazon locations.

CABAZON, CA — A 38-year-old convicted felon is suspected of pilfering 15,000 gallons of diesel fuel from a Cabazon gas station.

The alleged overnight crime was reported just after 7 a.m. May 21 in the 49000 block of Seminole Drive.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department said video surveillance was used to identify the suspect and vehicles used in the theft, with evidence pointing to Steven Anthony Bailey of Norwalk.

Bailey was arrested at about 9 p.m. that night in Perris.

The department also linked him to diesel fuel thefts in Calimesa, Moreno Valley and other Cabazon locations.

Jail records show Bailey was booked into Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of conspiracy and receiving known stolen property. Booking charges also include being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. According to the sheriff's department, a search of Bailey's home turned up an unregistered gun.

All of the booking charges are felonies.

Court records regarding his past offenses were not accessible.

Bailey was released from custody May 22 after posting a $29,000 bail bond, according to jail records.

No other arrests were announced.
