2 Arrested During Banning DUI Checkpoint, Neither Intoxicated: Cops
Banning Police officers arrested two people and cited 23 others for license violations during the DUI/Drivers License holiday checkpoint.

BANNING, CA —Authorities made two arrests and cited 23 others during a Banning DUI checkpoint over the holidays, according to the Banning Police Department.
During the Friday, Dec. 27 checkpoint, which ran between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m., officers stopped 587 cars at West Ramsey Street and 16th Street intersection, made two arrests, and cited 23 drivers for various license violations, according to Acting Capt. Brandon Smith.
Two people were arrested on misdemeanor warrants, and 23 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle while unlicensed or on a suspended/revoked license.

"DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads," they said.
The next DUI checkpoint will be held in March, though the exact date and location are to be determined. A grant from the California Office provided funding for this checkpoint
of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
