4 Injured In RivCo Crash, Hospitalized: CHP

RIVERSIDE, CA — Four people were injured Tuesday, including several children, in a three-vehicle wreck at an intersection serving as an entrance to a shopping mall in south Riverside.

The crash occurred at 11:45 a.m. at Alessandro Boulevard and Mission Grove Parkway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A CHP patrol unit happened to encounter the collision while transiting Alessandro, the agency said.

Riverside Fire Department crews reached the location in minutes and found the victims, whose identities were not disclosed, trapped in the wreckage, requiring extrication.

The CHP unit turned authority over to Riverside Police Department officers a short time later. The entire intersection, which fronts the Mission Grove Plaza, was shut down.

By 12:25 p.m., all of the victims had been removed from the wreckage. Three were taken to Riverside Community Hospital, and a fourth was transported to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley. Their conditions were stable, but the extent of their injuries couldn't immediately be confirmed by officials at the scene.

The specific number of children also wasn't available.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
