Banning Brush Fire Fully Contained, Cause Under Investigation

BANNING, CA — The cause of an overnight brush fire in Banning remained under investigation Wednesday morning but crews fully contained the blaze.
The brusher, dubbed the West fire, was reported at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Westward and Sunset avenues, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived, they found "three spots of vegetation burning in light flashy fuels," the agency reported.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., the 2.9-acre blaze was contained, but crews remained at the scene for several hours for "heavy mop-up," according to the fire department.
