BANNING, CA — Dozens of students were recognized for their language learning milestones Tuesday during Banning Unified School District’s annual Language Celebration.

The event at the Banning High School Performing Arts Center highlighted student achievements in multilingualism and English language development, bringing together families, teachers, and students for a night of cultural pride and academic recognition, according to the district.

“Our goal is for students to become biliterate, bilingual, and bicultural —ultimately earning the Seal of Biliteracy at the district, county, or state level," Superintendent Terrence Davis said. "That’s why we have these pathways in place — to ensure students are on the right track. We check progress at key points in 5th and 8th grade, and we are proud to honor those who have met those benchmarks tonight.”
