Beaumont Introduces New Deputy City Manager

BEAUMONT, CA —The city of Beaumont announced the appointment of Gustavo “Gus” Romo as the new Deputy City Manager.

"With over 30 years of distinguished experience in government, strategic planning, and community development, Romo brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to the role, further strengthening the City’s commitment to excellence in public service, a city spokesperson shared in a recent news release.

“We are excited to welcome Gus to the Executive Team,” said City Manager Elizabeth Gibbs. “His extensive experience in planning, economic development and city operations will be instrumental in driving the city’s progress forward.”

As Deputy City Manager, Romo will oversee key departments and initiatives, ensuring services and support of the City Manager in executing the strategic priorities of the City Council. He will assist the City Manager with overall department oversight, starting with an emphasis on the City’s new Economic Development Department as well as growing the Community Development Department, focusing on sustainable growth and enhancing the City’s livability.

According to the release, Romo holds an M.B.A. from the University of Redlands and a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Throughout his career, he has held several prominent roles in public administration, including his previous service as Deputy City Manager and Community Development Director with the City of Bell Gardens. He is also actively involved in professional organizations such as the Lions Club and American Planners Association and is soon to be a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).
