Beaumont Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Murdering Infant

Police arrested a 40-year-old Beaumont man in connection with the death of a 4-month-old baby, who died last summer.

BEAUMONT, CA — Almost nine months after an infant was rushed into a Riverside County hospital with fatal injuries, police on Friday arrested a Beaumont man on suspicion of murdering the 4-month-old.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Alejandro Cuevas, 40, of Beaumont, was arrested Friday in connection with the baby's Aug. 29th death.

On Aug. 23, deputies were called to a home in the 2000 block of Whispering Bells Road in San Jacinto, where the baby had stopped breathing, according to the sheriff's department.

"Deputies arrived on the scene and began lifesaving measures. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital in critical condition," the department announced in a written statement. "During the investigation, several injuries were located on the juvenile."

The baby died six days later.

Over the months-long investigation, investigators with the department's Central Homicide and Special Victims units determined the baby "died as a result of homicidal violence."

Cuevas, whom police described as an associate of the baby's family, was arrested Friday and booked into the Larry Smith Correctional Facility
