Car Carrying 2 Plunges 30 Feet In Lambs Canyon Area

The Christmas Day crash happened during Wednesday's storm.

BEAUMONT, CA — Firefighters helped two people to safety after a vehicle that plunged 30 feet off a hillside on Christmas Day in Lambs Canyon, officials reported. The wreck occurred along State Route 79 just north of Gilman Springs Road, the Riverside County Fire Department said.

The California Highway Patrol first reported at 12:24 p.m. that a sedan had hit the center divider and spun off the roadway via the right shoulder, CHP logs showed.

"Both patients have self extricated the vehicle," the agency said following the crash. "Firefighters are helping them make their way back up to the roadway."
