
The chance of afternoon thunderstorms was building Friday in cumulus formations north and south of the San Gorgonio Pass.
Possible impacts included small hail, gutting winds, locally heavy rain and runoff in normally dry washes, the National Weather Service advised.
Just after 2 p.m. Aug. 23, the largest formations were building over the San Jacinto Mountains south of the Pass, and radar showed potential for rain and other precipitation.
