RIVERSIDE, CA — A pickup truck went off the 60 Freeway in Riverside and caught fire, which spread to about an acre of vegetation, authorities said Sunday.

The crash was reported at 5:42 p.m. Saturday on the westbound 60 Freeway at Market Street, according to Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Allen.

The driver was out of the pickup truck by the time firefighters arrived, Allen said. That driver was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

Firefighters from the Riverside County Fire Department helped city firefighters put out the vegetation fire by 6:07 p.m., Allen said.

No other injuries were reported.
