Deadly Head-On Crash Reported On Gilman Springs Road
UPDATED: Officials temporarily closed the roadway at SR-79 as a result of the wreck. It has since reopened.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A head-on crash in the Moreno Valley area Monday left one person dead and another person injured, authorities said. The wreck also led to the temporary closure of Gilman Springs Road between State Route 79 and Alessandro Boulevard, traffic reports indicated.
The crash was reported around 7:30 a.m. along Gilman Springs Road, south of Alessandro. Preliminary California Highway Patrol reports indicate two vehicles collided, sending one of them down an embankment and scattering debris across the roadway.
Paramedics sent the collision pronounced one person dead at the scene, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Information was not immediately available on the fatally injured person's identity, gender or age.
The survivor was taken to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. The circumstances of the two-vehicle crash were under investigation.

Gilman Springs Road was closed in both directions until around 11 a.m., reports indicated.
