'Suspicious Death' Investigated By Homicide Detectives In RivCo

BANNING, CA — Homicide investigators are seeking answers in the death of an elderly person whose body was found Tuesday morning in the Cherry Valley area.

At 11:15 a.m., Riverside County Sheriff's Department deputies arrived at the 10400 block of Live Oak Avenue in Cherry Valley on reports of an elderly person found dead at the scene.

"When deputies arrived, they determined the elderly subject was deceased," Lt. Deirdre Vickers told Patch. "The Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit arrived to assist with the investigation."

The Coroner's Bureau arrived and assumed the investigation, which is currently ongoing. The identity of the person was not revealed, and the manner of death was not immediately released. Officers remained in the area until well after 8 p.m., according to reports from the scene.

While details remain under wraps, the incident is considered a "suspicious death," Vickers said. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.
