Sheriff's deputies arrested a man in connection with an explosion that rocked a San Jacinto neighborhood, a sergeant said Saturday.
Dispatchers received a 911 call at 4:40 p.m. Friday about the shattering noise heard in 1700 block of Rolling Meadows Court, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Santiago Agcaoili said.
Residents were evacuated and a bomb squad was called to the scene. A "subject of interest," identified as Richard Sebastian Odoardi, 39, of San Jacinto, was detained for questioning, Agcaoili said.
Odoardi was arrested later Friday night for suspicion of possessing a destructive device and child endangerment, Agcaoili said. He remained in custody today in lieu of $50,000 bail, jail records showed.
The substance used in the explosion was not disclosed by police.
