Fees Waived Jan. 15 At Cleveland, San Bernardino National Forests

Daily Adventure Passes won't be needed on Monday, Jan. 15, in celebration of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Officials noted access to 98 percent of federally protected land is free most — if not all — of the time. However, a few activities require a Daily Adventure Pass, which won't be needed on Monday.

INLAND EMPIRE, CA — Visitors to the San Bernardino and Cleveland national forests will be able to access any part of the preserves for free Monday in celebration of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

"The Adventure Pass is not a national pass, like America the Beautiful Interagency Passes," according to a USFS statement. "It is a local regional pass, required only (in the Cleveland and San Bernardino national forests and two other locations). America the Beautiful Interagency Passes are also accepted at all locations where the Adventure Pass is required."

Additional "fee free" days are planned for National Get Outdoors Day, June 8, Juneteenth, June 19, National Public Lands Day, Sept. 28, and Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
