Hemet police were investigating an alleged sexual assault of a female resident Tuesday and two men were arrested, a police lieutenant said in a statement.
About 2:40 p.m. Aug. 27 officers responded to the 3100 block of Warley Road for a report of a possible residential burglary in progress, Hemet PD Lt. Duane Wisehart said in a statement.
"Once officers arrived at the location they became involved in a physical struggle with two adult males suspects and were able to detain and arrest them," Wisehart said.
"Officers then contacted the female resident of the home, who was found to be seriously injured," Wisehart said. "The victim was soon after transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
"Preliminary investigation has revealed that both male suspects are known to the victim, and that they forced their way into the home where the victim was then attacked and sexually assaulted," Wisehart said.
Investigators were still interviewing several people and processing the scene, trying to determine what occurred, Wisehart said just before 6 p.m. Tuesday.
