Highland Fire Ignites In RivCo, Smoke Visible From I-10
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department raced to the scene of a vegetation fire showing smoke near Banning, the Pass Area.

BANNING, CA — A "very large spot fire" ignited south of the I-10 freeway in Banning Tuesday morning, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department confirmed.
Firefighters rushed to the scene, where a spot fire had grown to just under half an acre, and the forward rate of spread was halted within fifteen minutes.
According to Incident Command, resources will remain at the scene for about two hours for a "heavy mop-up. "
