How Hot Was It Thursday? 100 in Beaumont, 102 in Cabazon

Afternoon temps peaked in triple digits Thursday in the San Gorgonio Pass, with more heat to come Friday through Sunday, according to meteorologists.

The high in Beaumont through 4 p.m. June 27 was 100, and the high in Cabazon was 102, Mark Moede of the National Weather Service said in a phone interview.

Further east it was 108 in Palm Springs and 109 in Palm Desert, according to a 4 p.m. Weather Service update.

West of the Pass it was 99 in Yucaipa through 4 p.m., 102 near the east Redlands-Mentone border, and it was 102 at the west Redlands-Loma Linda border, Moede said.

An excessive heat warning has been issued for the Pass area and the rest of Southern California, for a period beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday June 29 through 8 p.m. Sunday June 30.

"A strong upper level ridge of high pressure over California and Nevada will bring very hot weather to inland areas Friday through Sunday," the Weather Service advised Thursday. "High temperatures will be 116 to 122 in the lower deserts . . . around 110 in the upper deserts . . . 102 to 112 in the Inland Empire. Temperatures in the foothills and mower mountain slopes will range from 100 to 105. Some record temperatures are likely in these areas."
