I-10 Big Rig Crash Causes Massive Slowing Ahead Of Labor Day Weekend

A semi-truck overturned, blocking all lanes of eastbound I-10, on Friday morning, CHP alerted drivers.

BANNING, CA — At least one person was injured early Friday morning when a semi-truck overturned on the eastbound I-10 in Banning, California Highway Patrol reports.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m., all lanes of eastbound I-10 were blocked just west of the 8th Street offramp in Banning. Traffic on eastbound I-10 through Banning and Beaumont ground to a halt as emergency officials worked the scene and assisted the injured driver.

Traffic was diverted at 8th Street, with Banning Police providing traffic control. All lanes were blocked until 6 a.m., when two lanes reopened. It was not immediately clear what led the semi-truck and trailer to overturn.

As of 6:30 a.m., the I-10 drive toward Palm Springs remained heavy, starting about a mile east of Beaumont Avenue until east of 8th Street.

No other information about the reason for the semi-truck crash, or what it was hauling, was immediately available.
