INLAND EMPIRE, CA — Travel across the Inland Empire was hectic on Friday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported. Drivers on the I-15 from the San Diego/Riverside County border north to San Bernardino County, as well as drivers on the I-10 through the Pass Area, had more than a few obstacles to confront, CHP says.

Wet roadways caused numerous slowdowns and a few fender benders on Friday morning; those were mainly cleaned up by 11:30 p.m., according to CHP dispatch.

Slick road conditions were thought to be to blame for an overturned car at Lakepoint Dive just east of E. Sun Canyon Street, CHP reports.

Just after 10:45 a.m., a solo vehicle was reported as overturned in the roadway. Good Samaritans were providing assistance for what turned into an injury crash. More on this will be added as it unfolds.

Dishwasher in Lanes:

The heavy travel morning was compounded midday by slowing on the Cajon Pass when a dishwasher toppled into the roadway, CHP reports.

At 11:15 a.m., drivers heading north on the I-15, just south of Kenwood Avenue, should be on the lookout for a dishwasher that toppled from a vehicle into the #2 lane, a caller told CHP Dispatch. That appliance was successfully moved to the center divider for later pickup, CHP said.

No one had pulled over to claim the appliance, which remained at that location on the Cajon Pass.

Unlucky Lost Ladder:

One unlucky driver lost a ladder while driving on the I-215 Southbound at State Route 74 near Hemet, CHP reports.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m., a passerby noted a ladder had fallen into the middle lanes of the southbound roadway. By 11:45 a.m. that piece of equipment had skittered into the #1 lane, according to witnesses. A SIGAlert was briefly called as cleanup crews headed to remove it.

Tarp Trouble:

Drivers on the I-10 just west of County Line Road should be aware of a large black tarp in the #2 lane, near Calimesa, CHP advised. There was no immediate word on when that would be removed from the road.
