IE Man Charged With Murder In Crash Death Of Sheriff's Deputy
As the department mourns the loss of San Bernardino County Sheriff's Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr., murder charges are pending for the suspect.

SAN BERNARDINO, CA — The San Bernardino District Attorney's office filed murder and other charges against the suspect involved in the death of San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr.
Ryan Dwanye Turner Jr., 22, of San Bernardino, was arrested after the fatal crash and was being held at the High Desert Detention Center. According to jail records, he is slated for arraignment Thursday at the Victorville Superior Courthouse.
On Monday, Turner fled Victorville sheriff’s deputies in an alleged stolen vehicle, resulting in a pursuit that claimed the life of Deputy Cuevas, a spokesperson for the DA's office said. Another driver was also injured in that collision.

Turner was later located and arrested Monday afternoon near El Evado Road and Auni Laine in Victorville following a short foot pursuit.
"The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be added, according to the DA's office.
