Jewish Family Shot At, Called An Antisemitic Slur: Redlands PD
A Jewish family was targeted in the days leading up to Hanukkah, according to the Redlands Police Department.
REDLANDS, CA — A 23-year-old Redlands man arrested last week on suspicion of antisemitic crimes is no longer in custody.
Garrett Bailey Stater was jailed Jan. 8 and released two days later on bail, according to San Bernardino County jail records.
The arrest came after Stater allegedly targeted a Jewish family in the 1300 block of Magnolia Avenue in Redlands.

On Dec. 12, the family that lived at the residence arrived home that evening, when a vehicle drove past. Several shots were fired from the vehicle, and an antisemitic slur was heard, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reported.
The family's house was "prominently decorated in celebration of Hanukkah," according to the sheriff's department.

No injuries or damage were reported, and no shell casings were found. Home surveillance video showed no muzzle flash, leading detectives to believe the weapon was an airsoft handgun, the sheriff's department reported.
Following an investigation, sheriff's detectives served search warrants on Jan. 8 in the cities of Redlands and Yucaipa, and recovered the airsoft gun used in the incident, according to the sheriff's department. Stater was arrested at his apartment in the 1000 block of Pine Avenue. Two other people were detained and released after questioning.
