Man Arrested During Sex Offender Compliance Checks in San Jacinto

A Moreno Valley man was arrested during sex offender compliance checks Saturday in San Jacinto and he was booked at Smith Correctional in Banning before he was released, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Deputies conducted 18 compliance checks of registered sex offenders at multiple locations in San Jacinto on Oct. 19, sheriff's Sgt. J. Orona said in a statement.

"Section 290 of the California Penal Code requires persons convicted of specific sexual crimes to register with the agency where they reside," Orona said.

Sixteen of the 18 registered sex offenders were in compliance with their registration requirements, Orona said. Two of the registrants were not home or had moved, and detectives will follow up to determine if the registrants are out of compliance.

Arrested during the sweep was:

• Jason Lamont Warrick, 42 years, of Moreno Valley, on suspicion of one felony count of failure to register at all addresses.

Warrick was arrested shortly after 6 p.m. Oct. 19 in the 100 block of South Jordan Avenue booked at Smith Correctional, according to inmate records. He was released early Monday Oct. 21 on $5,000 bail and he has a court date in December in Murrieta.

"The San Jacinto Police Department will be conducting similar sweeps randomly throughout the city to verify registered sex offenders are living at their reported residences along with conducting probation and/or parole searches of registered sex offenders who are on probation and/or parole," Orona said. "Our officers will take all appropriate measures against any subject found to be willfully out of compliance with their registration terms."
