Man Shot In Head At Riverside Park Remains In Critical Condition

RIVERSIDE, CA - A man who was shot in the head at a Riverside park was hospitalized in critical condition Saturday.
Gunfire was reported at about 11 p.m. Wednesday in the 2400 block of 14th Street near Vasquez Park, according to the Riverside Police Department.
When officers arrived at the scene they did not find anyone in the park, but did find several bullet casings in the parking lot, police said. About an hour later, investigators learned that two gunshot victims had arrived at the emergency room of a nearby hospital.

A man was shot in the head and a teenage boy was shot in the hip area, according to police.
The man remained in critical condition Saturday while the teen was treated and released from the hospital.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that three victims attempted to drive away from the park after they were approached by a group of "unknown subjects."
As they drove away, their vehicle was struck by gunfire, injuring the man and the teenager, police said. The third occupant of the vehicle was uninjured.
Authorities did not provide suspect descriptions or a motive for the shooting and said the investigation was ongoing.
