BANNING, CA — Firefighters made quick work of a small wildfire that ignited in Banning Sunday.

It was reported at 10:16 a.m. on a patch of vegetation west of Highland Springs and south of Interstate 10, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The blaze burned through an acre of brush before its forward spread was halted by firefighters.

Crews were expected to remain on scene for another two hours for mop up, an official said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
