One Injured in Six-Car Freeway Pileup

One person suffered major injuries today in a six- vehicle pileup on eastbound Interstate 10 in Banning, a fire spokesman said.

Firefighters were dispatched at 2:34 p.m. to the freeway east of the Hargrave Street on-ramp. The badly hurt person was taken to a hospital for treatment, Riverside County Fire Department spokesman Mark Annas said.

Initial reports of the multiple vehicle crash showed that a small black sedan struck the center divider. The number one lane was re-opened by 3:27 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
