
Rep. Raul Ruiz, D-Palm Desert, appeared at a forum for military veterans Thursday Aug. 22 in Beaumont.
More than 50 people, including Pass area veterans, residents from other communities in Riverside County, and elected officials from Banning and Beaumont filled most seats in a meeting room at Beaumont Civic Center.
Issues raised by veterans and 36th District residents in the audience included access to health care, access the mental health care and PTSD resources, poor management of computerized medical records within the Veterans Administration and armed forces, access to education benefits, lack of justice in disability claims, concerns about plans for a veterans clinic in Beaumont, and parking at Pettis VA Medical Center in Loma Linda.
The congressman's Beaumont visit followed his appearance earlier Thursday at a Pass Economic Development Agency luncheon at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa.
